Liechtenstein Gorge

Most impressive gorge in the Alps

Liechtenstein Gorge

The Liechtensteinklamm is open again after 3 years of construction work. One of the highlights is the new spiral staircase named the ‘Helix’. The Liechtenstein Gorge is one of the longest and most impressive gorges in the Alps. This is a perfect trip for the whole family. You will be impressed by the power of nature. Especially in the spring when there is a lot of meltwater that flows through the gorge. This is one of the main attractions in Salzburgerland and especially the Pongau region. The Liechtenstein gorge was made accessible for the general public since 1875 and since then, more than 10 million people have visited this spectacular place.

Information

The hiking route is about 1,5 km. It is a well constructed and maintained path with wooden steps and bridges, the metal Helix staircase, and several tunnels. There is just one path and you can turn back at any time, but it is advised to take a look at the magnificent waterfall before you go back.
